Gift Certificates

Living Colour Tattoo | Living Colour is a tattoo shop in downtown Ottawa, who had a need for inexpensive gift certificates (i.e.: the kind they could print themselves using their b/w laser printer. When Smith saw the certificates they produced using Word, and being printing on bright coloured paper, we set out to come up with something cooler – a certificate that conveyed the rebellious nature of their business and clientele. First we scouted the business supply store looking for interesting paper. We found the perfect product – letter-sized stationery that looked like wrinkled paper on both sides. We then wrote two provocative headlines, and created a design that could be printed from a PDF we supplied to the client. The final certificate design was an 8.5″ x 11″ sheet, folded in three like a letter. This format gave the certificate buyer space to write their own personal message inside — and when the certificate panel was detached, people got to keep the card with gift givers message. Big ideas. Small budget.
